PRESS RELEASE No 1
CEO APPOINTED
The Arnott Cato Foundation has announced the appointment of
former Chief Information Officer, Mrs. Margaret Hope to the post of Chief
Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2004. Mrs. Hope retired from the
post of Chief Information Officer of the Government Information Service,
last year.
This announcement was made today by ACF’s Chairman, Carlisle Burton, who
said that the Trustees took the decision, late last year, to strengthen
the management of the Organization with the appointment of a Chief
Executive Officer. “Her main responsibilities will be to manage the office
and take the lead in the fund raising exercise, while at the same time
building institutional relationships with the Queen Elizabeth Hospital,
the Ministry of Health, the private sector and other charities and
institutions engaged in work in the field of health care,” Sir Carlisle
said.
He added that one of Mrs. Hope’s first tasks will be to launch a web page
for the organization and it is expected that this would be up and running
by the end of March.
The sixty year old journalist has worked in the media and public relations
since the age of 18 when she joined the staff of the Advocate. Her jobs in
the intervening years included Editor of The People Newspaper in the
Commonwealth of the Bahamas, Unesco Communications Consultant with the
Caricom Secretariat in Georgetown, Guyana and Public Relations Manager of
the Barbados Board of Tourism, now the Barbados Tourism Authority.
