PROGRAMME OF AWARDS AND ASSISTANCE

The programme approved by the Trustees will include the following:

RESEARCH AWARDS - open to postgraduate students in Family Medicine at UWI Barbados and to general practitioners in Barbados and St. Vincent and the Grenadines on a subject relevant to health in Barbados/Caribbean.

HEALTH SERVICES MANAGEMENT TRAINING - open to health care professionals in Barbados and St. Vincent and the Grenadines for attending relevant short-term programmes, seminars or meetings.

STUDENT OF THE YEAR - monetary awards to the medical, nursing and paramedical students adjudged best in their graduating classes according to criteria for excellence.

ASSISTANCE - to students from St. Vincent and the Grenadines if in need while attending training courses in Health Sciences in Barbados.

CLINICIAN OF THE YEAR - as judged by the Medical Staff Committee.

NURSE OF THE YEAR - as judged by the Nursing Staff Committee.

QEH EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR - criteria will exclude professional and technical staff and will include such features as productivity, attendance, attitude to patients, colleagues and visitors,
and deportment.

ADMINISTRATIVE REFORM - monetary awards at varying levels for the submission of ideas which are adjudged likely to be beneficial
to the Hospital.

EQUIPMENT -the Foundation will assist with the purchase of equipment, as directed by donors or after consultation with the QEH.

AWARDS -The provision of annual awards to the Barbados Community College‘s Division of Health Sciences to encourage students to join professional associations and subscribe to professional journals.
